Water Water Water
It is estimated that 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
In fact the body's complex thirst mechanism in many people
is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
Although most people will drink enough to survive, failing
to get enough water will adversely affect the body over time.
Low water intake can wrinkle you skin, deplete you brain cells,
slow you digestive system, stress your kidneys and dry out
your joints. Even mild dehydration can slow down you metabolism
slightly. Daytime fatigue may often be triggered by lack of
water. A small drop in body water can inhibit short-term memory,
interfere with focusing, even dull math skills. (our brain
is 75% water) Your body needs water to be healthy, focused,
and comfortable.
Your body over all is 65% water! This ratio helps keep moisture
in and transport oxygen and nutrients to your blood. It is
recommended that one should drink 6six to eight/ 8-oz or about
2 quarts per day. For every hour of physical activity another
8-oz is recommended. You may be getting more water than you
think drinking other liquids such as milk or eating fruits
and veggies. Watermelons are 97% water and tomatoes 93%.
Bottled Verses Tap
In 1974 the U.S. congress passed the Safe Drinking Water Act
to ensure our tap water is safe. Bottled water is not necessarily
purer or safer. Some bottled water is actually local tap water,
so check your bottled water or for concerns www.epa.gov/safewater/
FYI:
1. You can refill an 8oz glass of water approximately 15,000
times for the same cost as a six pack of soda. $$$$
2. You could survive about a month with no food, but only
5-7 days without water.
3. An elephant can smell water up to 3 miles away.
